The pond is within the Rockville Management Area. The reward for the long walk in (2200 feet) to the boat launch area is paddling on a beautiful 94 acre pond with nothing but woods and water all around you. It is almost half a mile from the parking area to the pond so this put-in is only for the determined paddler! The path is level most of the way to the pond but there is a short steep section as you approach the pond. Gasoline motors are not permitted on Blue Pond but you can use an electric motor, but that is one more thing to carry to the pond, or two things if you count the battery! The Blue Pond area is also very nice for walking, especially in the spring when the mountain laurel that is everywhere here is in bloom, but any time of year that is something beautiful to see.
